Ages 4 to 10. Muddy boots, low trees, big questions. Everything about our days in the woods is on this page, and there is a playable version of the trail too.
A club that lives outside
Outdoor days for curious kids. We climb low trees, follow beetle trails, and come home with pockets full of acorns and stories.
Led by Felix Adeyemi in the woods near Portland. Small groups, trained leaders, and one rule above all: leave every place as kind as you found it.
Leaf maps
Every child draws the path we walked. The maps look wild. That is the point.
Stick dens
We learn how a roof stays up and why a door needs a hinge.
Critter watch
Gentle eyes only. We count beetles, name snails, and put everyone back.
Boots on at nine, stories by three
- Gather at the gateBoots checked, bags hung, one very important toilet stop.
- Circle on the logsWhat did we spot on the way in? Today's plan gets voted on.
- Trail walkWe follow whatever moves first: birds, beetles, a shiny pebble.
- Log picnicPacked lunches and a long debate about the best stick of the day.
- Make and muddleMud paint, seed bombs, or a den that somehow fits everyone.
- Story stumpQuiet time, a story, and pickup at three.
Three groups, sized for little legs
- Ages 4 to 5
Sprouts
Short trails, lots of snacks, and plenty of splashing. A grown-up can stay for the first session.
- Ages 6 to 7
Saplings
Den building, simple knots, whittling with a leader right beside them.
- Ages 8 to 10
Oaks
Map reading, fire safety, and a longer trail with a proper summit snack.
Groups stay small, with two leaders at every session. Sample details: set your own ratios and days.
The things parents ask us most
What if it rains?
We go out anyway, in waterproofs. We have a tarp shelter for lunch and only cancel for high winds or storms.
What should they wear?
Layers, a waterproof jacket and trousers, wellies or boots, and a spare pair of socks in a bag.
Is it safe?
Leaders hold outdoor first aid training, we walk the site before every session, and tools are only used one to one.
Can my child come for one day first?
Yes. That is exactly what the taster day is for. Book it at the end of the trail.
You reached the flag. Come and try a day.
